The Goldfish Game by Todd Redwood City, CA
I just thought that I would tell you about a funny little story that happened to me this weekend....
This past Sunday, I took my wife and my 2-year old daughter to the County Fair. After having lunch, we began walking around the area with the kiddy rides and petting zoo. My buddy who I was with stopped to try his luck at tossing a Ping-Pong ball into a fish bowl for a chance to win a goldfish. (You all know the game, the one that is impossible to win!). Well, needless to say, I managed to connect on my last throw, and was given a token to pickup the goldfish at the end of the day.
Before we left the fair, we picked up the goldfish, along with a small fish bowl and food (total $9). My daughter was asleep so she did not get to see the actual fish until we got home. Well, she LOVED the fish, and she made me sit with her for a couple hours and just watch the fish swim around - right up until she went to bed.
As she woke in the morning, the first words out of her mouth were "Go see fishy". So we went downstairs, only to find the cute little fishy on its side. Thinking quickly, I told my daughter that the fish was taking a nap. Later that morning, my wife had a burial for Mr. Goldfish, but my daughter kept asking where her fishy was. We realized that we were going to have to replace the fish, so I met my wife at PetSmart later that night to buy another fish.
Well, our $1 investment for 7 ping pong balls turned into a 3-gallon tank, filter, net, a fancy rock and building for the fish, 2 bags of gravel, food, plants, and 6 Danio fish, totally $120!
Summary: Parents, don't get suckered into the goldfish game, because you just may do the impossible - win!
